What our clients (and now friends) are saying about us...

"One lesson with Shannon improved my skiing more than the last several lessons I’ve taken elsewhere. Shannon’s clear visual examples and spot-on feedback brought everything together in a way that made sense and gave me so much more control in steeper terrain and over bumps. Her ability to build my confidence brought out the best in my skiing and gave me newfound optimism about my ability to progress and conquer my fears. I’m really proud of what I accomplished during our lesson and had a ton of fun in the process!"

- Melissa Paulson

"As the 2020/2021 ski season comes to a conclusion, I sit back and reflect on what progress I have made as a skier this year. I feel so blessed to have had Shannon Mahre as a coach and friend. Our Wednesday Progression clinic classes @ Whitepass have evolved into a support group of women. Most of the ladies in the class, like myself, have been with Shannon for 2-3 years now. Most of them are healthcare professionals in some way or another. We have had Veterinarians, an MRI Technician, ARNP’s, Triage Nurse, ED Nurses, Surgery Nurse, Nurse Educator and Social Workers!

As an ED Nurse, now Surgery Nurse, 2020/2021 has been especially stressful for me. Stress --- I know many people have struggled as I have - and I know I need to take care of myself. It’s hard to get out and do the things you love. Places are closed, I have excuses, ok… fear.  Realizing your fear, meeting it head on. Stop making excuses. Recognize when you have something that you enjoy, something that challenges you, something that makes you feel better about yourself. That is something to be grateful for.

I look back on my time with these ladies and our amazing coach and really cherish our time together. Thank you to Shannon for being a fierce leader of our team. Thank you for letting us continue with classes during a pandemic. I hope I am not the only one who tells you how much I appreciate you as a coach, a mentor and a friend.  Thank you Shannon."

Did you read about us in the Seattle P-I?

"Now living out of the nearby Naches, Washington, she has been sponsored by nod-worthy athletic brands like those of K2 Ski Alliance, Harvest Chevrolet, Eddie Bauer, Superfeet Worldwide, evo, SRAM and Clif Bar. She alsofounded Girls with Grit and co-founded MADE (Mahre Athletic Development Experience) with her husband around the Yakima Valley, offering ski and running clinics, alongside empowering retreats and private lessons for women, men and kids of all ages.

'Training changed my life when I was very young,”'Mahre said. 'But now as a coach, my goal is to help change women's lives and men's lives at any stage of their life, because it really can not only help them get fitter and healthier and accomplish great goals, but it's also a great outlet. I help other women get over their fears of how to get out by themselves or with their friends safely, and just getting women into training and getting them to be empowered to know that they can go do that kind of stuff, that they can run distances that they never, ever, ever thought they could.'

Mahre is incredibly passionate about recreation around and beyond the Yakima Valley, operating her own clinics throughout the year to help inspire men and women of all ages and skill levels. 'The body can do amazing things if the mind gets on board,' she said.”
